THKv 3 adet bombardıman
alayını donatmak üzere de Havilland “Mosquito”ları seçmiş ve
bu uçakları İngiliz Fairey Aviation’a sipariş etmiştir. Ocak
1947 ile Nisan 1948 arası uçaklar teslim edilmiştir. Fairey
Aviation ile THKv’nin envanterindeki uçak miktarları ve seri
numaraları birbirlerini tutmamaktadır. THKv’de 10 adet Mk.III(T)
torpido modeli ile 122 adet Mk.IV av-bombardıman modeli görülmekle
beraber bu rakamlar Fairey Aviation’da 10 adet Mk.III ve 132 adet Mk.IV
olarak gözükmektedir.
Bu
uçaklardan üç adeti Harita Genel Komutanlığı’nca kullanılmışlardır
ve sivil kayıt numaralarına sahiptirler.
İlk gelen uçaklar Gaziemir’de bulunan 3.Alay’a tahsis
edildi ve bu uçaklar gemi taarruz görevi ile görevlendirildi. Diğerleri
ise Eskişehir’deki 1. Alay’a ve Diyarbakır’daki 2. Alay’a
verildi. Ancak gövdelerinin ahşap olması ve konstrüksiyonlarında
tutkal kullanılması bu uçakların sıcak ilkim kuşağında dayanıklıklarını
azalttı. Bir müddet sonra Diyarbakır’daki uçaklar Eskişehir’e
çekildi. Bu arada Gaziemir’deki 3.Alay lağvedilmiş, 1.Alay 1.Hava
Üssü olarak, 2.Alay da 2. Hava Üssü olarak yeniden organize edilmişti.
1953’de ABD yapımı Republic F-84G “Thunderjet”lerin gelişi
ile görev dışı bırakıldılar.

After the end of thre WWII
TuAF decided to equip three regiments with deHavilland “Mosquito”
torpedo planes and fighter-bombers. The planes ordered were delivered
by the British firm Fairey Aviation in between January 1947 and April
1948. However neither the supplied quantities nor the registration
numbers of the TuAF and Fairey Aviation are in conformity. In the TuAF
inventory 10 Mk.III(T) torpedo-bombers and 122 Mk.IV fighter bombers
appear whereas the figures are 10 and 132 respectively in the Fairey
Aviation records.
Three of these planes were
used by the General Commander of the Cartography and they bear civil
registrations. The first party arrived were deployed at the 3rd
Regiment at Gaziemir in the anti-shipping role. The remainder were
deployed at the 1st Regiment in Eskişehir and 2nd Regiment in
Diyarbakır. But the plywood and glue used in the construction of
these planes didn’t end up with good results and many accidents
occured. The planes in Diyarbakır were transferred to Eskişehir. In
the meantime the Regiment in Gaziemir was disbanded and the 1st
Regiment was reorganized as 1st Air Base and the 2nd Regiment as the
2nd Air Base in 1951. In 1953 after the arrival of the US built
Republic F-84G “Thunderjets” they were removed from active duty.
